Booster Club Meeting Minutes 11/9/99

President, Jan Thompson called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

SECRETARY REPORT - Everyone was asked to read over the minutes from the last meeting held on September 22, 1999. There were no changes or additions so the minutes were approved.

UPDATES

Scoreboard Sign - Jan reported that the new sign, which is located on the back of the scoreboard, has been installed and looks great.

Shelving - At our last meeting, Bob Zeffery volunteered to build shelves in the storage area of the new building at the field. Tonight Bob reported that a company that he does business with has agreed to donate all the shelving needed. Bob reported that it has all been delivered and he plans to assemble it this Saturday.

Infield - Jan reported that the sprinkler system for the infield should be finished sometime this week. John Malchi said that the school district has tilled the infield and that he is going to try to have the soil conditioner installed sooner than previously planned, possibly before Thanksgiving. School district will till the infield again after the soil conditioner is installed. John also reported that the school district is now working with an outside contractor who will mow the outfield on a regular basis.

Garage Sale - Lynn Sturgeon reported that we made approximately $860.00 on the garage sale. She said that we had a fun day and thanked everyone for items that were donated. Left over items were taken to Goodwill. She will contact the Company that will be doing the video soon.

Spiritware - Lynn will be taking orders for five different items, T-Shirt, Polo, etc. She will put together an order form and will probably send it home with each girl. There will not be any extra items ordered this year, as in the past. She is going to set a deadline for the order form to be back so that we can try to have the items before the first game.

Lynn explained a little bit about "High School Rules" and how it works, some discussion followed.

Flower Sale - Connie Malchi informed us that the flower sale made $720.00. She said that we will probably do better with the spring flower sale.

BUDGET - John Malchi went over the budget and said that we have a current balance of $5,782.00. The only expenditure that we have coming up is $1,400.00 for the soil conditioner for the field. John thanked Brian Sturgeon for his work on the budget.

The subject of uniforms was brought up and after some discussion a motion was made that if we sell additional banners that we could spend up to $2,200.00 on uniforms, parts of uniforms or accessories. This motion was seconded, voted on, and carried.

The subject of having a program was brought up as possibly being a money maker. Jan said that the program was abandoned last year because it really did not make that much money and was a tremendous amount of work.

BANNER SALES - Vice President, Jane Steinseifzer, informed us all that so far five banners have been sold. She explained how to sell the banners and said that information regarding banner sales is available to those interested. Banners are sold for $600.00, with $100.00 going for the cost of making the banner. Also, $100.00 will go back to PSHS’s Drug Activity Program. The Booster Club would be able to keep $400.00 for each banner sold. Plans are to hang the banners the first week in February and they would hang for one year.

It was previously mentioned that the Booster Club planned to purchase a Flag Pole for the field, but now we have decided to wait until next year to make this purchase because of all the other field improvements that are taking place this year.

BRICK GRAPHIC FUNDRAISER - Jane said that Coach Spangler has been approached about the Booster Club possibly selling bricks with the girl’s names, etc. on them. Bricks would be made into a walkway, wall, or something similar. Past players or parents would also be contacted about purchasing a brick. Peggy Stacy agreed to chair this fund-raiser and Kim Dudley agreed to help.
